Connor Deklyen sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital after the vehicle he was driving rear-ended a stationary recycling truck
A Vancouver man was injured Tuesday when his vehicle collided with a recycling truck.
On Tuesday (June 7) at about 3:21 p.m., Clark County Sheriff’s deputies, American Medical Response, and Clark County Fire District 6 were dispatched to an injury collision at NW 149th Street and NW 11th Avenue.
Initial reports were that a passenger vehicle had collided with a garbage truck. The driver of the passenger vehicle was injured and was being tended to by on-scene, off-duty medical personnel.
Responding units located the collision just west of the intersection. Preliminary investigations revealed a 2008 Mazda Cx9, driven by 24-year-old Connor Deklyen, of Vancouver, rear-ended a stationary recycling truck owned by Waste Connections. Deklyen sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Excessive speed and inattention were contributing factors in the collision. The CCSO Traffic Unit is investigating the collision. Detectives stress to the public the importance of attentive, safe driving practices.
