
Clark County Sheriff’s Office says driver is being investigated on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after pickup truck crashed and got high-centered on a Jersey barrier above Salmon Creek on Friday morning
A Jersey barrier stopped a crashed vehicle from falling into Salmon Creek on Friday morning.
Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash in the 14700 block of NE 72nd Avenue just before noon on Friday.
A pickup truck that had been traveling northbound on 72nd veered across the oncoming lane of travel, struck a guardrail, and then high-centered on a Jersey barrier. The barrier prevented the vehicle from falling into the creek.
The driver, a male who is being investigated on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Firefighters from Vancouver Fire Department, Engine 7 and Truck 5, secured the vehicle and removed the top so the driver could be safely removed.
The crash caused several blocks of NE 72nd Avenue to be closed for more than an hour. The roadway reopened shortly after 1 p.m.
