Residents were alerted by neighbors yelling outside their home and evacuated
In the early morning hours Tuesday (July 30), Vancouver Fire Department units were dispatched to a house fire in the Orchards area. Notes were suggestive that the exact location was not known.
The first-arriving engine contacted the reporting party and determined that the fire was at 12100 NE 99th Street. A second fire engine arrived to find a two-story home with a fire on the exterior. Residents had already been alerted by neighbors yelling outside their home and evacuated.
The exterior fire was quickly extinguished followed by truck companies laddering the building to cut a hole in the roof for final extinguishment in the space above the vaulted ceiling. The early-alerting from neighbors and quick work of the 24 fire personnel helped stop a nighttime fire from becoming much worse.
Residents will be temporarily displaced until structural components can be fixed. Investigation is conducted by the Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office.
