Downtown beautification project celebrates the places, history and experiences that make Ridgefield unique

RIDGEFIELD — Ridgefield Main Street, in partnership with the Port of Ridgefield, is bringing a new beautification project to Downtown Ridgefield with the installation of large-scale photo panels on the Greely Building.

Led by the Ridgefield Main Street Design Committee, the project was created to enhance a prominent Downtown building while using imagery to tell part of Ridgefield’s story. The panels feature scenes representing the community’s history, natural landscape, culture and traditions, including the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, Chinookan Plankhouse, dragon boats and other recognizable pieces of Ridgefield.

“This project really represents what Ridgefield Main Street is working to do Downtown — create spaces that are welcoming, interesting and distinctly Ridgefield,” said Kelliana Cole, Interim Executive Director of Ridgefield Main Street. “We’re investing in the physical experience of Downtown while also creating a connection to the history, places and experiences that make this community special.”

The Greely Building project is part of Ridgefield Main Street’s broader work to strengthen Downtown’s sense of place through beautification, preservation and thoughtful improvements to the physical environment.

The project was completed in partnership with the Port of Ridgefield and in collaboration with local organizations that contributed photography representing Ridgefield’s history, culture, recreation and natural environment.

Local company Ballyhoo (https://ballyhooink.com) is installing the panels on the Greely Building in Downtown Ridgefield.

The installation is one of several ways Ridgefield Main Street invests directly in the Downtown environment. Through its Design Committee and other programs, the organization supports projects and improvements that strengthen Downtown’s character, create a welcoming experience for residents and visitors, and help keep Downtown at the heart of the community.
