Clark County Republican Party precinct caucuses were scheduled to take place Saturday but school buildings were closed to anticipated winter weather
Due to the closures of school buildings around Clark County in anticipation of severe winter weather conditions, the Clark County Republican precinct caucuses scheduled for Saturday (Jan. 13) have been postponed.

Ten of the 11 locations planned for Saturday’s event were Clark County school buildings. All 10 of those buildings will be closed due to the anticipated winter weather.
“We did not cancel,’’ said Matt Bumala, chairman of the Clark County Republican Party (CCRP). “We were informed the school buildings will not be open for us so we’re having to postpone.’’
Bumala said members of the CCRP are working to reschedule the caucuses.
Bumala participated in an emergency meeting of the Washington State Republican Party Executive Board. The result of that meeting was the establishment of a provision that will allow Clark and the Republican parties in three other Washington counties an additional three weeks to hold the caucuses.

“Without the provision, the counties who did not complete the caucuses on the 13th would not have been able to send their delegates to the state or national conventions,’’ Bumala said.
The CCRP will announce the new date and locations as soon as that information is available.
