C-TRAN has appointed Alexandra Mather to serve as the agency’s director of Government and Community Relations, effective March 11.  She will be directly responsible for the agency’s intergovernmental affairs, community relations and outreach, and lobbying efforts in addition to working on critical projects such as the Interstate Bridge Replacement Program. As C-TRAN continues to move forward with its 2045 long-range plan, maintaining a critical presence in both Washington and Oregon, it is vital that the agency maintain it many relationships with local, state, and federally elected officials and partner agencies.  In this role Mather will also serve as strategic advisor to the Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Directors and the Executive Team.

Mather is a seasoned public transportation advocacy professional with over a decade of experience in public policy. Prior to joining C-TRAN, Alexandra led Government Affairs at Pierce Transit, where she cemented the agency’s value and credibility throughout the community, at the state legislature and on the national stage by successfully securing hundreds of millions of dollars in grant funding and leveraging federal programs to support system transformation for transit users and the community for decades to come.

Previously, Alexandra worked for U.S. Sen. Patty Murray as her Olympic Peninsula Director, where she worked across a diverse range of interests, including the U.S. Navy, 10 federally recognized tribes, timber and conservation.

Alexandra’s passion and commitment to racial, social and economic justice drives her desire to leverage public transit to create thriving communities. She earned her undergraduate degree in sociology from Western Washington University, and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University with an emphasis in servant leadership. Alexandra enjoys spending time and creating memories with her family. Her interests include camping, golfing, white water rafting and sailing. She is thrilled to be moving to Southwest Washington and exploring all the beautiful places and spaces it has to offer.
