Through their investigation, the Special Investigations Unit learned that David Jones was in possession of firearms; Jones is a prohibited firearms possessor
On Tuesday (Jan. 28) at about 3:30 p.m., detectives with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Special Investigations Unit (SIU), with assistance from the SW Washington Regional Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), the Battle Ground Police Department (BGPD), CCSO Tactical Detective Unit (TDU), and the Vancouver office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), served a search warrant at a residence located in the 900 Block of N. Parkway Avenue and conducted a traffic stop related to an unlawful possession of firearms and possession of controlled substance investigation.
Through their investigation, SIU learned that 48-year-old David Jones, of Battle Ground, was in possession of firearms. Jones is a prohibited firearms possessor. In 2024, the Vancouver Police Department’s Crime Reduction Team searched the same residence and seized 12 firearms from the defendant. Jones had been out of custody and awaiting disposition on these charges.
During Tuesday’s search, investigators located two firearms and small amounts of fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine in the residence, and a loaded handgun in the vehicle.
Jones was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Clark County Jail on three charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the First Degree.
