🎧 I-5 Lane Closures: Weigh-in-Motion Scale Inspections

On Tuesday and Thursday, the WSDOT maintenance crew will close the right lane on I-5 approaching the weight-in-motion scale houses near Ridgefield and Kelso, for annual inspections

Travelers who use Interstate 5 in Clark and Cowlitz counties should plan for daytime delays.

On Tuesday, May 12 and Thursday, May 14, the Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crew will close the right lane on I-5 approaching the weight-in-motion scale houses near Ridgefield and Kelso, for annual inspections.

Weigh-in-motion scales measure the weight of large trucks while they are driving at highway speeds. These inspections help make sure the scales are working correctly to track truck weights, protect the highway from damage caused by overweight vehicles and keep traffic moving safely.

What to expect

  • Tuesday, May 12: The right lane of northbound I-5 will close at the weight-in-motion scale at milepost 15.4 near from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 14: The right lane of southbound I-5 will close at the weight-in-motion scale at milepost 45 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Drivers should slow down, stay alert, and follow directional signs during the inspection.
