Public meeting on Columbia River fishery policy postponed; additional meetings planned

The November meeting in Ridgefield was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts

RIDGEFIELD — The Joint-State Columbia River Policy Review Committee, made up of members of the Washington and Oregon fish and wildlife commissions, announced today that it would postpone a planned Nov. 18 public meeting in Ridgefield, with the intent to schedule additional meetings beginning in early 2020.

The November meeting was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts, as well as to allow additional time for new commissioners to better familiarize themselves with important Columbia River management issues.

The PRC is working to find common ground for jointly managed fisheries, and emphasizes having concurrent regulations in Washington and Oregon’s shared waters.

The committee currently expects to hold additional public meetings beginning in early  2020, with a possible recommendation to both full state commissions sometime in spring 2020. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) will provide public notice once dates for those meetings are finalized.

Information and materials from previous meetings can be found at https://wdfw.wa.gov/about/commission/joint-policy-review-committee. The public can also submit comments to the PRC using the form on that page.

WDFW is the state agency tasked with preserving, protecting and perpetuating fish, wildlife and ecosystems, while providing sustainable fishing, hunting and other outdoor recreation opportunities.
