Friends of Hospice of SW Washington to hold Virtual Fundraising Event

Registration is underway for event to be held Sept. 10-12 to support and fund hospice and palliative care programs in the area

Since 1985, Friends of Hospice of SW Washington has been deeply committed to supporting and funding hospice and palliative care programs in the area. The COVID-19 realities have forced the organization to transition its in-person fundraising luncheon to an online event this year and their volunteers are asking for the public’s support.

Friends of Hospice of SW Washington will hold a Virtual Fundraising Event Sept. 10-12. According to officials, the coronavirus has been devastating to efforts and the organization needs this event to be successful in order to continue supporting hospice and palliative care in Southwest Washington.

The Virtual Fundraising Event will take place Sept. 10-12 and will feature a silent auction and a special appeal. According to organization officials, the coronavirus has been devastating to Friends of Hospice SW Washington, and the organization needs this event to be successful in order to continue supporting hospice and palliative care in SW Washington.

This year, the focus is all about the children. The funds raised will help support the care of the children in hospice care, granting last wishes, assisting with the bereavement programs and summer camps provided by the hospice care organizations in SW Washington.

Members of the organization shared the story of a 5-year-old child in hospice care who kept insisting she needed a “little red wagon.”  After being questioned why the wagon was so important to her, she simply said, “I need my red wagon so I can take my toys to heaven …”

Friends of Hospice of SW Washington members ask the public to help them provide “little red wagons” for the children.
