Brush Prairie resident Bob Mattila says members of our society are showing their ‘ungodliness’

Shame on all of us, the people of the formerly somewhat godly people of the United States, that we have become so ungodly and stooped so low in showing our ungodliness, that many of us are proud of our ungodliness, when we should be ashamed of ourselves.

Another example of this ungodliness is Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek proclaiming that March 10 will be, “Abortion Providers Appreciation Day.’ This is exactly the kind of thing that shows how ungodly and shameless we have become. If we were good, godly, correctly thinking people, it would be, ABORTION PROVIDERS DENUNCIATION DAY.
It is no wonder that the whole world is descending into almost complete turmoil. The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy, 3:1-13, how evil times will become, “In the last days perilous times shall come”, then lists the sins that are being committed now. Verse 13 says, “Evil men shall be worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” Galations, 6:7 says,”Do not be deceived, “Whatever a man plants, that he will also harvest.”
In the Old Testament, as recorded in Leviticus 18:21, “You shall not let any of your descendants pass through the fire to Molech.” In chapter 20, verse 2 it says if anyone does that they are to be put to death. We are passing our children through the fire of abortion and celebrating it. Hebrews 9:27 tells us
“It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement.” If we do not repent of our sins and believe in Jesus, when we die and stand before God at judgement, we will be among those who are told, as recorded in Matthew 25:41, “Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. May God have mercy on us, wake us up from our ungodly, sinful state, cause us to get on our knees and repent of our sins, or spend eternity, as it is recorded in Mark 9:47: “Thrown into hell fire, where their worm does not die and the fire is never quenched.”

MrMattalia, Look no furher than the Whitehouse if you want to see the United States decending in complete turmoil, democracy being destroyed by the convicted felon and far right religious fanatics, gutting our country for their own benefit and taking rights away from women and people of color. Cutting aid to children and the poor while they live a lavish life of greed.
Come on now! Let’s see some receipts on your statement. List which rights have been taken from women. List which rights have been taken from colored people. Which programs have cut aid to children and the poor. You can’t just post this ignorant garbage without some actual proof of this being truthful on you part. If you can’t do that then just consider keeping your comments to yourself. You’re being exposed as ignorant!
Well, that’s certainly one way to look at it. Fortunately, your simply saying these things does not make them true.
Thank you for your, cough cough, “valuable” input. Next!
Amen and thank you for your words!
“Mr. Mattila’s letter is a striking example of selective scripture and moral grandstanding. While he quotes 2 Timothy 3:1-13 to decry ‘evil times,’ he seems to overlook 1 John 4:20, which states, ‘If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.’ His sweeping condemnation of society as ‘ungodly’ reeks less of divine love and more of self-righteous judgment—a practice explicitly warned against in Matthew 7:1-5: ‘Judge not, that you be not judged.’
As for his outrage over Governor Kotek’s proclamation, perhaps Mr. Mattila should revisit Micah 6:8, which asks, ‘What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?’ Celebrating abortion providers isn’t about glorifying a procedure but recognizing the dignity and complexity of human choices—choices often made in circumstances Mr. Mattila seems unwilling to consider. His call for an ‘Abortion Providers Denunciation Day’ feels less like godly righteousness and more like the kind of prideful condemnation Proverbs 16:18 warns will precede a fall.
Finally, while Mr. Mattila invokes Leviticus to equate abortion with ‘passing children through the fire,’ he conveniently ignores the countless other Levitical laws (e.g., dietary restrictions, fabric blends) that modern society no longer adheres to. Perhaps he should reflect on James 2:10: ‘For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.’ If he’s going to cherry-pick scripture to shame others, he might want to ensure his own house is in order first.
In closing, Mr. Mattila’s letter reads less like a call to repentance and more like a Pharisee’s prayer (Luke 18:11). If he truly wishes to see a ‘godly’ society, perhaps he should start by embodying the humility, mercy, and love that Christ himself exemplified—rather than casting stones from his glass pulpit.”
