VANCOUVER — An 18-year-old was arrested and booked into the Clark County Jail for Murder II Wednesday after the vehicle he was driving struck a pedestrian who later died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

At 1:05 p.m. Wednesday (April 29), Vancouver Police Department officers responded to a parking lot of the Sky Zone Trampoline Park, located in the 5000 block of E. Fourth Plain Blvd. When emergency personnel arrived, they located 45-year-old William N. Miller trapped underneath a vehicle.

According to a Vancouver Police Department report, information from the officers’ investigation indicates Miller was skateboarding in the parking lot and had approached the vehicle and allegedly punched the window.

According to a police report, Jones then made a U-turn and accelerated his vehicle toward Miller and did not brake until after he had struck the pedestrian. After Miller was removed from under the car, he was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

Jones was interviewed by police before he was arrested.

A Friday report from the Clark County Medical Examiner indicated that Miller died from multiple blunt force injuries. The manner of death was listed as homicide.

The investigation by the Vancouver Police Department Traffic Unit and Major Crime Unit is continuing.
