Three people were ultimately displaced by the fire
At 7:41 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 9), the Vancouver Fire Department was dispatched to Fishers Mill Apartments at 1000 SE 160th Ave. for the report of a structure fire.
The first unit arrived within five minutes to find heavy smoke and fire coming from a bottom floor apartment. The initial report from occupants was that someone could be inside.
The first-arriving engine was placed in rescue mode, which allowed them to enter the structure immediately to search for people. No one was found in the apartment and the fire was extinguished quickly.
One citizen was evaluated by AMR but not transported. Three people were ultimately displaced by the fire. The Red Cross was contacted to help.
Eight suppression units were dispatched to this event with a total of 23 people. One of the responding engines came from the Camas-Washougal Fire Department. Fire Marshal 3 was on scene to investigate.
