The nearly year-long investigation began in Clark County
On Tuesday (Sept. 17), the Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Special Investigations Unit (SIU) assisted in the arrest of 57-year-old Martin Rangel, also known as Marco Miranda-Medina, and 24-year-old Tatum Littau.
SIU provided vital case information to the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement (MADGE) Task Force and Medford Police Department, who were able to intercept Rangel and Littau in Jefferson County, Oregon, as they traveled by car from California. Investigators arrested both Rangel and Littau on this traffic stop and recovered 11,000 fentanyl pills that were concealed in the driver’s seat.
The nearly year-long investigation began in Clark County when, in October 2023, CCSO Major Crimes Unit (MCU) detectives contacted Martin Rangel at his residence at the Sunnyside Motel, located at 12200 NE Highway 99 in Vancouver. Detectives were investigating a drive-by shooting that had occurred earlier at this location. During the contact, investigators located evidence of drug trafficking and petitioned Clark County Superior Court for a search warrant.
Detectives searched Rangel’s motel room and found methamphetamine, fentanyl, cash, and a firearm. Deputies transported Rangel to the Clark County Jail, where corrections staff booked him for Possession of a Controlled Substance (PCS) with Intent to Deliver and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. He later posted bail and was released.
In July of 2024, CCSO patrol deputies received a tip indicating Rangel had a large quantity of fentanyl for distribution. Patrol passed this information on to CCSO SIU detectives, who initiated another investigation into Rangel. Detectives learned Rangel would frequently travel to California to obtain large quantities of fentanyl to distribute in Clark County. SIU planned to arrest and interdict Rangel upon his return from California.
On Aug. 25, SIU learned Rangel was returning from California. Investigators arrested him for his felony warrants from the initial 2023 investigation. Rangel was extradited to Clark County and later released.
On Sept. 17, SIU learned Rangel again traveled to California, this time with his girlfriend, Tatum Littau, who had several Clark County felony warrants for her arrest. SIU worked closely with MADGE and law enforcement intercepted Rangel again. On this stop, investigators searched the vehicle and recovered 11,000 fentanyl pills concealed in the driver’s seat.
Rangel and Littau will be charged in Jefferson County, OR, for the equivalent charge of PCS with Intent.
CCSO is proud of the diligent work of SIU, Patrol and MCU and of its close working relationship with MADGE.
