Park hosts live on-site at several county parks and provide custodial and maintenance services
VANCOUVER – Visitors to three regional parks this fall and winter will see construction of RV pads for park hosts at Lucia Falls, Frenchman’s Bar and Salmon Creek regional parks. Two pads will be installed at Salmon Creek Regional Park: one at the softball fields and one at the Klineline Pond area. Construction is not anticipated to cause significant closures or impacts to visitors, however, visitors are reminded to stay clear of work areas and never enter areas closed with signs, caution tape, cones, barricades or other devices.
Park hosts live on-site at several county parks and provide custodial and maintenance services. Hosts also increase park security by being a round-the-clock presence to deter and report criminal activity such as vandalism. Hosts also assist with storm response, emergency response and crowd control. While a few hosts reside in residences owned by the county, most hosts are provided an RV pad and hookups to live in their own RV. The installation of the new RV pads will allow the program to place hosts at locations that will maximize the benefits of the program, including park security and visitor assistance.
Exact construction dates are to be determined and weather dependent. Construction dates and potential impacts to park users will be posted at clark.wa.gov/public-works as information becomes available. Updates will also be posted to the Public Works social media profiles and on signs posted at the construction locations. The project is expected to be complete by late spring 2024. Applications for the park host positions at these parks will not be accepted until construction is complete and a call for applications is posted on the Public Works website.
