Fatal car crash takes place Sunday on NW Lake Road in Camas


Vancouver man, Jeffrey Baker, pronounced dead at the scene

A car crash on NW Lake Road in Camas claimed the life Sunday of 43-year-old Jeffrey Baker of Vancouver.

At 4:29 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 9), Camas Police and Fire personnel were dispatched to a serious traffic accident near the intersection of NW Lake Road/NW Lacamas Lane.  Upon arrival, it was determined that two passenger cars had been involved in a near head-on collision.

A Mazda 6 sedan was headed westbound when it crossed the center line and struck an Audi sedan that was travelling eastbound.  The driver and lone occupant of the Mazda, Baker, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Audi had five occupants that were treated and released with minor injuries.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Department’s Traffic Unit assisted Camas Police with the investigation.

A portion of NW Lake Road was closed for several hours during the investigation, but has been reopened.
