The Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan outlines the framework for solid waste disposal, recycling, and educational outreach programs throughout the regional solid waste system
VANCOUVER – A preliminary draft of Clark County’s updated Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan is now available for review and, beginning Aug. 1, community members will be able to submit comments on the draft plan.
The Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan outlines the framework for solid waste disposal, recycling, and educational outreach programs throughout the regional solid waste system. The plan examines the current system, as well as system projections, future needs and Clark County Solid Waste and Recycling programs’ goals for the next 20 years.
Clark County’s Solid Waste and Recycling programs recently led a revision process to update the Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan, which was last updated in 2015. The revisions address changes in solid waste regulations in the state, population growth projections, and updates to contracts for solid waste services in the region. As part of the update, Clark County is streamlining information by incorporating the Clark County Contamination Reduction Outreach Plan and Moderate Hazardous Waste Management Plan.
The preliminary draft of the updated plan is now available for review on the Clark County Public Health website. Community members will have an opportunity to provide written comments on the draft plan using an online form that will be available on the Public Health website Aug. 1-30, 2024.
Public comment can also be provided during a hearing at 6 pm Thursday, Aug. 1 during a Solid Waste Advisory Commission meeting. Community members can attend the meeting in person at the Center for Community Health, 1601 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., or virtually via Zoom. Virtual meeting information is available on the Solid Waste Advisory Commission webpage.
Additional information about the Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan update and process is available on the Public Health website.
