Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will utilize daytime single lane closures to install a series of catch basins alongside the highway
VANCOUVER – People who travel through Vancouver using Interstate 5 should plan ahead for delays.
Starting Tuesday, May 9 through Friday, May 12, Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will utilize daytime single lane closures to install a series of catch basins alongside the highway.
During heavy seasonal rainstorms, water can collect and flow over the roadway. With the installation of the new drainage system, excessive rainwater will flow into the catch basins, preventing pooling on the interstate, improving safety for travelers.
Closure details
- Tuesday, May 9 through Thursday, May 11: The right lane of southbound I-5 near 78th Street will be closed daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Thursday, May 11 and Friday, May 12: The left lane of northbound I-5 near Main Street will be closed daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Note: This work will not begin until the work near 78th Street is complete.
As with any highway maintenance and construction project, travelers must exercise caution through the work zone. To keep both road users and road workers safe, travelers are asked to have patience, obey advanced warning signs and look for instructions from flagging and road crew personnel.
