Clark County Medical Examiner identifies victim, suspect of May 3 murder-suicide in Battle Ground

BATTLE GROUND — The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim and the suspect of the May 3 murder-suicide that took place in Battle Ground.

The medical examiner’s report indicated that 50-year-old Rita G. Sizemore died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. Leon A. Garcia, 54, of Battle Ground, died of a gunshot wound to the head. The report indicated that Garcia was believed to have shot himself in the head with a rifle.

At 1:30 p.m. Sun., May 3, deputies from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 13600 block of NE 319th Street on the report of an apparent suicide. A male and female adult were located inside the residence. 

Detectives with the Clark County Major Crimes Unit  are investigating.
