The president of the local League of Women voters recently wrote a letter to the editor opposing the SAVE Act, which requires documentation of US citizenship in order to register to vote, or update voter registration. I’ve observed over the years that the local League of Women Voters’ leaders primarily favors liberal positions and candidates. It’s always seemed odd that the Clark County Election department advertises for the League by putting their materials in their offices, and on the counter where people go to register to vote and update their voter registration. I haven’t seen any other groups’ materials displayed and distributed in the same way.

Margaret – The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization that never endorses candidates and supports issues only after much study and agreement among its members. I believe the materials you are referring to are the brochures “They Represent You,” which we update every year and make available to libraries, city halls, political parties and yes, the elections office. It is simply a list of all our elected representatives and how to reach them.
