Candidate forum to be held in Ridgefield Friday

Candidates seeking positions on the Ridgefield City Council and Port of Ridgefield Board of Commissioners will participate

RIDGEFIELD — A candidate forum featuring those running for positions in the Ridgefield area in the upcoming Nov. 5 general election will be held Fri., Oct. 11, from 7-9 p.m. at Clark County Fire & Rescue, Station 21, located at 911 N. 65th Ave.

The forum is sponsored by area citizens and the Ridgefield Community Library. Participating will be two candidates for a Port of Ridgefield Board of Commissioners position as well candidates vying for three positions on the Ridgefield City Council. The two candidates running unopposed will not participate.

The candidates for Port of Ridgefield Board of Commissioners, Position 2 are Scott Hughes and David Kelly. The candidates for the Ridgefield City Council include Dana Ziemer and Matt Swindell (Position 2), Rob Aichele and Darren Wertz (Position 5), and Ronald Rowan and Sandra Day (Position 7). 

Councilors Lee Wells and Jennifer Lindsay are running unopposed and will not attend.

Candidates will be allowed a two-minute introduction statement, as well as a one-minute final statement at the end of the evening. There will then be six-to-eight questions for each candidate. The topics will include growth, affordability, safety, infrastructure, city challenges, and services.
