Battle Ground Police make arrest in early morning stabbing

BATTLE GROUND — Early Monday morning, at 1:07 a.m., Battle Ground Police Officers responded to the 500 block of NE Parkway Ave after multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting an assault with a knife.

Officers quickly located the suspect, Gennadiy Kachankov who was placed into custody for questioning.

The victim, a 29-year-old male, was located in a nearby residence with knife wounds to his chest and hand.  He was transported by AMR to Peace Health Medical Center. His injuries are thought to be non-life threatening.

The investigation determined that the victim and suspect are known to each other.

Officers arrested Kachankov, 29, of Battle Ground, for Assault I.  He was booked into the Clark County Jail; charges have been forwarded to the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office.
