Just one week ahead of his own presidential election, former President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump took the time to campaign for 3rd Congressional District candidate and fellow Republican Joe Kent.

Kent is embroiled in a tightly fought race with Democrat incumbent Marie Gluesenkamp Perez. Political pundits from coast to coast believe the Southwest Washington race will help determine which party secures the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Kent highlighted the fact that they are one week away from “taking back our district and then taking back our country.” He criticized the current Democratic representative and stressed the necessity of flipping the seat to support President Trump’s agenda, particularly regarding border security and inflation. Trump expressed his support for Kent, recalling their meeting at Dover Air Force Base while praising Kent as a “real fighter” and “hero.” He outlined key issues such as crime, immigration, and inflation, promising to work with Kent to restore energy independence and cut regulations. Both candidates urged listeners to vote early with Kent appealing for donations to strengthen his campaign against significant Democratic funding.
The telephone town hall emphasized unity among supporters and the urgency of participating in the electoral process, reflecting the candidates’ commitment to conservative values and community concerns.
In sharing his personal story, Kent detailed his service as a Green Beret for over 20 years and the profound loss of his wife, who was killed while fighting ISIS in Syria shortly after Trump attempted to withdraw troops from the region. He recounted his emotional encounter with President Trump at Dover Air Force Base, where Trump consoled the families of fallen soldiers. Kent expressed deep gratitude for Trump’s ongoing commitment to veterans and the military, stating, “President Trump has always fought for our country, for our troops, for our veterans.”
Following Kent’s opening remarks, Trump praised Kent and expressed his fondness for Washington, mentioning many friends who live here. He acknowledged the significance of the upcoming election, stating, “We have seven days away from the most important in the history of our country.”
Trump said Kent is someone who embodies the qualities needed in leadership. Trump lauded Kent as a retired Green Beret and a “gold star husband” who is committed to conservative values, including strong borders, low crime, and fair trade.
The former president outlined his vision for the future, stating that with Kent in Congress, they would work to end inflation and restore energy independence, lamenting the current state of the nation compared to four years prior. He highlighted the urgent need to address the issues of crime and illegal immigration, asserting that criminals and drug dealers are infiltrating communities. Trump underscored the need for significant deportations and strict immigration policies, reiterating Kent’s role in this effort.
Trump criticized the radical left, specifically targeting Kent’s opponent, whom he described as aligned with extreme Democratic policies. He called for sealing the borders and implementing the largest deportation effort in U.S. history. He invoked Dwight Eisenhower’s presidency as a model for immigration control, expressing the necessity to remove criminals and restore law and order.
In concluding his remarks, Trump rallied support for Kent, encouraging listeners to take pride in their vote, stating, “You will be very proud of Joe, that this is a true American hero.”
Kent reiterated the critical nature of controlling spending and inflation, stating that current economic conditions are making life increasingly difficult for families. Kent highlighted the border crisis in Washington state, noting a significant uptick in fentanyl-related issues stemming from open borders, which is affecting lives in his district.
He called for a strong Republican majority in Congress, emphasizing the importance of flipping Washington’s third district. Kent requested assistance from listeners to bolster his campaign efforts, directing them to his website, JoeKentforCongress.com.
