Firefighters were able to save the structure but much of the contents were destroyed
VANCOUVER — A large family was displaced after fire ripped through their home Friday (Oct. 11) afternoon at 12717 NE 11th Place, Vancouver.
When crews from Clark County Fire District 6 arrived, flames were shooting from the garage, and had ignited a nearby RV and the front of a new pickup truck. Firefighters initially battled the blaze using water from the engine, while crews unrolled large fire hose nearly 100 yards to the nearest hydrant.
Firefighters were able to save the structure but much of the contents, especially on the north side of the large home, were destroyed.
Firefighters had the blaze knocked down in 20 minutes. No firefighters were injured, and one resident had a minor injury. An investigator with the Clark County Fire Marshall’s office is determining both the cause of the fire and damage estimate. Family members say they’ll stay with relatives and the Red Cross was not needed.
