City of Vancouver seeks input on proposed westside bike routes

The city is seeking public input on the three corridor concepts at several informal public gatherings in January and February

VANCOUVER — After hearing from almost 4,000 people last summer and fall, the city of Vancouver has identified Columbia Street, Daniels Street and Lincoln Avenue as potential locations for better bike routes between Burnt Bridge Creek and downtown on the west side of the city.

“Thanks to the input we received from everyone last year, we have developed draft design concepts for the three routes,” said City of Vancouver Senior Transportation Planner Anna Dearman. “It was clear from the comments we received that people want the routes to be safer and better connected, so everyone feels comfortable biking or driving.”

The city is seeking public input on the three corridor concepts at several informal public gatherings in January and February.

City staff will host two Westside Bike Mobility Project “coffee talks” — one from 4 to 6 p.m. Wed., Jan. 16 at Boomerang, 808 Main St.; and the other from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sat., Jan. 19 at Latte Da, 205 E. 39th St.

The city will then hold an informal public open house for the project from 4 to 6 p.m. Wed., Jan. 23 at the Vancouver Housing Authority, 2500 Main St.

City staff will also be available to discuss the project from 5 to 10 p.m. Fri., Feb. 1 at a booth at the Night Market Vancouver at Terminal 1, 100 Columbia St.

Community members are invited to stop by any of these events to view the concept drawings, ask staff questions and provide feedback. There will be no formal presentations, so people can stop by anytime during the event hours.

Visit www.cityofvancouver.us/bikemobility to get more information about the project and take a new online survey about the draft concepts that will be available starting Fri., Jan. 11.
