The skyline along the Camas-Washougal waterfront changed Tuesday with the rise of a towering construction crane at the Hyas Point development site.
Several pedestrians walking along the waterfront trail stopped to take a look at the construction workers high above the ground, building the crane.
The crane, visible from SR-14, the waterfront trail, and nearby neighborhoods, is a major milestone in the project’s ongoing transformation. The project is progressing to the structural building construction for Hyas Point, a multi-phase development from RKM Development in partnership with the Port of Camas-Washougal.

Key construction materials will be lifted and placed by the crane as the project continues to take shape.
Groundbreaking for Hyas Point was in late 2024.
Once complete, Hyas Point will include a mix of residential living, office spaces, retail opportunities, and community gathering areas, all within walking distance of the Columbia River and public open space.
