The Clark County Council remains committed to keeping Tri-Mountain Golf Course a … golf course.

For now, the course in Ridgefield is no longer for sale. The county will instead seek a long-term management agreement.

Last week, the council received an update on the status of the course.

Back in 2024, the county opted to put the course up for sale, with the covenant that it remain a golf course. The county received two bids from ilani Casino Resort — one at just above the asking price and another at a much higher price but with no requirement to keep it a golf course. The county did not entertain the higher bid because of the golf course requirement, and focused instead on the other bid. That sale fell through, however, leaving the county to ask what’s next.

Last week during Council Time, the council was given an update on the property as well as six suggestions for action.

  1. Put the course for sale again, and again with the requirement that it remain a golf course. The county, the council was told, has had six interested buyers since the ilani sale fell through.

  2. Seek an RFP (Request for Proposal) for a new management agreement. The suggestion would be for an agreement that benefits the county, and puts more responsibility on the operator for upkeep and improvements to the course.

  3. Bring management in-house, which would require hiring more employees.

  4. Put the course up for sale, but with no requirement that the new owner keeps the property as a golf course.

  5. Try to negotiate with another government agency to buy the course from the county. It was noted, however, that no other government agency has expressed interest in the course.

  6. Clark County uses the property for something other than a golf course. For example, it could become a headquarters for the sheriff’s office, an indoor gun range, the medical examiner’s office, or a park. There would need to be change of use as well as funds for those improvements.

After a long discussion, the councilors agreed to go with Option 2, to seek a long-term management agreement.

The course is currently managed by Indigo Sports, a subsidiary of Troon. Tri-Mountain has been operated by the same team, under Tri-Mountain Golf Management LLC, since the early 2000s, with a few branding changes.

The county and Indigo agreed on a short-term, emergency agreement while the future of the course was unsettled. That agreement concludes at the end of this year.

Last week, the councilors agreed that a long-term agreement is needed in order for the manager to be incentivized to maintain and make improvements to the course.

“I am a big proponent of this golf course,” Councilor Matt Little said. “It’s an affordable golf course, which is really important to our community. To me it’s a park that brings in revenue and has a healthy outdoor recreation opportunity. It’s something we should try to preserve.”

Councilor Glen Yung said the council should do its due diligence to look at how the property could be used for other purposes in the future. For now, though, he agreed that an RFP for a new agreement with a golf manager would be prudent.
