On Wed., March 29, the East County Industry Hiring Fair brings industry professionals from the region to Washougal High School from 5-7 p.m. This free event brings many local employers together, and provides adults and teens in the community the opportunity to meet potential employers.
Some employers will use the event to gather applications, and do on-the-spot interviews for open positions. In addition, the event provides learning opportunities like resume writing workshops and hiring information for students, families and community members in the SW Washington and Greater Portland area. This event is being jointly organized by Washougal School District and the Camas School District.
“Our tremendous team of teachers, student support staff, and leaders at Washougal School District see to it that every student has what they need to succeed. Events like the Industry Hiring Fair open opportunities for our community’s youth,” said Superintendent Mary Templeton.
Students gain exposure to diverse career fields, learn essential resume building skills, and meet potential new employers at the event. Students from both Camas and Washougal High Schools will learn firsthand how hands-on technical skills and academic knowledge from the classroom are applied to real world jobs. “These kinds of experiences can shape the trajectory of students’ entire careers,” said Margaret Rice, director of Career & Technical Education at Washougal School District.
Hospitality support for vendors presenting at this event was provided by Educational Service District 112.
“Students are the future of the Washougal community. Our amazing school staff team is dedicated to making sure that students graduate from high school with tangible skills to help them succeed post-high school,” said Mark Castle, principal at Washougal High School.
