Green has been on loan from Otak to help Ridgefield as the interim city engineer and commercial projects review manager
RIDGEFIELD – On Tuesday (Jan. 31), the city of Ridgefield announced that Chuck Green has accepted the position of public works director for the city.
Since 2017, Green has been working as a project manager/engineer for Otak on a variety of public projects including the Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex, Hood River Bridge Replacement, and Laos Sustainable Urban Transport Project. Most recently, Green has been on loan from Otak to help Ridgefield as the interim city engineer and commercial projects review manager.
Prior to his work with Otak, Green managed the Clark County Public Works Transportation Group, worked for C-TRAN on the Vine Bus Rapid Transit project, developed (on contract) some of the foundational transportation planning documents for Ridgefield, and was a transportation planner for the Denver Regional Council of Governments. He served Clark County as an elected representative on the Clark County Charter Review Commission, serves on the Clark County Commission on Aging, helped start the local Three Creeks Rotary Club, and regularly volunteers his time at Ridgefield community events (like the recent tree plantings at Horn’s Corner Community Park).
Green is a licensed engineer whose undergraduate and graduate work was completed at the University of Michigan.
“When we started the hiring process, I wanted to assure we added a valuable public servant who either a) knew us (our people, plans, projects, partners) or b) was a strong public works professional with project and personnel management experience who can hit the ground running for our busy community. With Chuck, we get both,” stated City Manager Steve Stuart.
Green said he knows Ridgefield.
“Having been involved with Ridgefield for the past twenty years, and living in the area, I consider Ridgefield to be my hometown,’’ Green said. “I am very excited about Ridgefield’s future and being a part of realizing that vision.”
