Doug Quinn cited his acceptance of a new job as the city administrator for Camas as the reason for his resignation
The Camas School Board reluctantly accepted the resignation of longtime member Doug Quinn at its regular meeting Monday (Dec. 12). Quinn cited his acceptance of a new job as the city administrator for Camas as the reason for his resignation.
Quinn, who starts his new position in early January, noted that he isn’t done with Camas schools, however: “As much as I’m excusing myself from board meetings, I will be joining you and your staff when the city and the schools do their frequent and regular meetings, and I’m looking forward to that new partnership — it will be fun,” he said, thanking school leaders past and present for their support over the years.
Quinn joined the board in 2005, and has served as board president twice. Board members took turns thanking Quinn for his years of public service. As board president Corey McEnry said, “There is no one who exemplifies everything good about Camas more than Doug Quinn.”
Superintendent John Anzalone, who joined the district in July, thanked Quinn for the job opportunity, adding, “I’m very privileged to have known you in this capacity. In my short time here, you have been a voice of reason, logic, and, most importantly, a compassionate person not just for children, but for adults.”
Following the resignation announcement, the Camas School Board is calling for applicants to fill the position of Director District 4. The appointee will fill the position through the end of Quinn’s term, in December 2023. Board directors are elected for three-year terms, with the next election for this position set for November 2023. The district has posted details about the application process and deadline HERE.
