Raptors take on its feeder team, Northwest Star Nighthawks, for games Saturday and Sunday in Ridgefield
The Ridgefield Raptors have a break in the West Coast League schedule, but they do not have much of a break on the baseball diamond.
The Raptors are set to play regional club squad Northwest Star Nighthawks, a feeder team for the Raptors, in a two-game series Saturday and Sunday at the Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex.
The biggest stars of the weekend, though, won’t be playing. They’ll be in the bleachers.
Sunday, the day before America celebrates its independence, is Military Appreciation Day at the RORC. All active duty and military veterans get in for free for the 1:05 p.m. game.
“The entire promotion of that game will be focused around our military,” said Gus Farah, the general manager of the Raptors.
“We recognize them every night,” he added.
However, on the day before the Fourth of July, there will be more of an emphasis to salute the men and women of the armed forces.
The Raptors are coming off a series win over the Portland Pickles. They are 14-9 in West Coast League play.
Please note the Raptors have a rare off day Friday. Usually when the team is home for a weekend series, it is for three games. The non-league games with the Nighthawks are Saturday and Sunday only.
