🎧 40,000 Pounds Delivered to Clark County Food Bank

Food to feed about 1,400 for a week easy donated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Clark County Food Bank, part of JustServe and the America250 service initiative

A semi-truck with 40,000 pounds of donated food arrived at the Clark County Food Bank on Thursday, bringing together civic, nonprofit, and faith leaders in support of households struggling with the rising cost of food.

The delivery is part of JustServe and America250 service initiative.

Inside the truck was enough food to feed about 1,400 people for a week, donated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Food insecurity often affects people in ways that are not always visible, according to Emily Straw, president of the Clark County Food Bank.

It’s working families, seniors, and neighbors doing everything they can to stay afloat,” Straw said. “A truckload like this helps us respond quickly, meet growing needs, and make sure more people in our community have access to the food they need without having to choose between feeding their family and covering other basic needs.” Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle was one of the leaders present for the delivery.

“Clark County Food Bank does important work every day supporting local families, and it’s encouraging to see the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints continuing to support those efforts through food donations and volunteer service alongside many other volunteers and community organizations,” the mayor said. The Clark County truckload is one of 250 deliveries of donated food being distributed to communities across the 50 states as part of the nationwide effort honoring the nation’s 250th anniversary.
