Seton Catholic baseball returns; plus school hires girls soccer coach

Cougars will play home baseball games at Harmony Sports Complex

The Seton Catholic Cougars are back in baseball, and it looks like they will be on their own.

The athletic department also announced Friday the hiring of a new girls soccer coach.

In baseball, Ted Wierczorek has been named the head coach. The Cougars will  play in the Trico League and play their home games at Harmony Sports Complex.

Several players from Seton Catholic were on the King’s Way Christian team that won the 2017 Class 1A state championship.

In girls soccer, Antonio Buckley has been named the girls varsity head coach. He has coached at Jefferson and Madison in Portland as well as at Heritage in Vancouver. He also works coaches with the Washington Timbers organization.

Buckley replaces Amanda Chase, who stepped down to spend more time with her family, according to Phil Kent, the school’s athletic director.

“Seton is grateful for her commitment to our girls over the years,” Kent said. “She has laid a great foundation for Coach Buckley to continue to build the program.”
