Area coaches also selected the players that will represent the region in the all-state games, plus two players earned the Cpl. Jeremiah Johnson MVP Scholarship awards, in memory of a former Prairie Falcon who was killed in service to the country
The Clark County baseball community saluted the best of the best Monday night at the Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex.
There was a Futures game, featuring younger high school players, and then the traditional senior send-off, at the Clark County Senior All-Star Game. The game is a way for high school teams and their fans to say goodbye to their seniors one final time on a baseball field in the county.
Landon DeBeaumont of Ridgefield and James Gill of Battle Ground were named the MVPs of the senior game. They received scholarships in the memory of Cpl. Jeremiah Johnson, a 2001 Prairie High School graduate and baseball enthusiast.
Johnson joined the U.S. Army, making the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Iraq. His parents, Beth and Dave Johnson, along with the Evergreen Baseball Umpires Association, created the Cpl. Jeremiah Johnson MVP Scholarship Award.
Also after Monday’s games, area coaches voted on the 10 players who will represent Southwest Washington at the all-state baseball games, to be held June 26-28 in Yakima.
Those players are: Teddy Wieczorek of Seton Catholic, Brendon Lawson of Mountain View, Luke Jenisch of Columbia River, Kian Siegel of Columbia River, Blake Sutton of Union, Jase Wong of Skyview, Landon DeBeaumont of Ridgefield, Dalton Woods of Seton Catholic, Cam McCray of Prairie, and Ethan Adams of Battle Ground.
