Champions forever at Prairie and Washougal

Seniors reflect on their basketball titles

This week, we had the honor of sitting down with the three seniors from the Washougal girls basketball team and the three seniors from the Prairie girls basketball team. Last weekend, their teams won state titles. Here, in their words, is how it felt to win it all in their final seasons of high school basketball.

Paul Valencia joins after more than two decades of newspaper experience. He became the face of high school sports coverage in Clark County during his 17 years at The Columbian. Before moving to Vancouver, Paul worked at Oregon daily newspapers in Pendleton, Roseburg, and Salem.
