GoFundMe celebrated its 15th anniversary this month, and data shows that Washington residents — including many from Clark County — have been very generous through the years, helping people in need in their communities
GoFundMe recently celebrated its 15th anniversary of raising funds all over the world, and the state of Washington has been very giving, indeed.
In all, GoFundMe has raised more than $40 billion worldwide.
According to data provided by GoFundMe, Washington is the ninth most generous state, giving more than $27 million to help people in need. Washingtonians also gave more than $12 million through GoFundMe to support nonprofit organizations.
The most generous Washington resident has donated more than 1,200 times on GoFundMe to help others.
Beyond money, Washingtonians expressed gratitude through sending nearly 2 million thank-you notes via the site.
“We exist to help people help each other,” said Tim Cadogan, CEO of GoFundMe. “Even with $40 billion raised, we’re still just getting started.”
The company also announced this month the launch of GoFundMe Pro, to be used by nonprofits.
Clark County Today is proud of its relationship with GoFundMe, periodically posting GoFundMe spotlights for people in need in Clark County.
