2019 event scheduled for Sat., Oct. 5 in downtown Ridgefield
RIDGEFIELD — The city of Ridgefield invites area residents to join the festivities at the 20th Anniversary of BirdFest & Bluegrass on Sat., Oct. 5. Those interested can head to Ridgefield and enjoy everything that BirdFest & Bluegrass has to offer, in downtown Ridgefield and on the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge.
In downtown Ridgefield, attendees will enjoy Bluegrass Performances at Old Liberty Theater (3 shows for $10) or find Pickers’ Festival jam sessions around town. Birdfest & Bluegrass themed family friendly activities will take place at Overlook Park with Ridgefield Farmers Market, and many arts & crafts and music performances on the stage will be available for the children.
Visitors will find that Birder’s Marketplace has a new location at the Ridgefield Administrative and Civic Center; attendees can participate in Arts and Crafts at the Ridgefield Community Library, or join the Big Canoe Paddle on Lake River with the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership. Also, those in attendance can explore hands on learning opportunities with Oregon Zoo ZAP at Overlook Park, or at the Audubon Society of Portland Live Bird show at Union Ridge Elementary from 1-2 p.m.
Visit the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge for free during BirdFest and discover the birds, wildlife, trails and Cathlapotle Plankhouse with tours, naturalist led hikes, hands-on workshops and cultural activities. Find family friendly birding walks, photography, a geology walk, watercolor classes and more starting at 8 a.m. Join the Chinook Indian Nation and Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde for a blessing of the food, drumming and a taste of traditionally baked salmon and seafood stew at 4 p.m. at the Cathlapotle Plankhouse.
