2019 Camas Days set for this weekend

Activities scheduled Thursday through Sunday around the city of Camas

CAMAS — A full schedule of events is planned for the 2019 Camas Days celebrations with activities set for Thursday through Sunday. Both Friday (July 26) and Saturday (July 27) will feature full days of activities as the community of Camas celebrates with a parade, music, street vendors, the iconic bathtub races and children’s activities.

This year’s theme for Camas Days is “Candyland.’’ It is organized by the Camas-Washougal Chamber of Commerce.

The highlights of the annual event include the Kid’s Parade at 12:15 p.m. on Friday as well as vendor booths, Kid’s Street and live entertainment on both Friday and Saturday. The Grand Parade will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday and will follow along 4th Avenue, Oak to Adams.

Picnic in Color, a free family arts and crafts event will take place in downtown Camas on Sunday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at 4th and Cedar.

Thu., July 25 

6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.: Concert in the Park at Crown Park featuring the Brian Odell Band (Funk, Fusion & Folk Rock). 

4:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.: Enchanted Evening Seniors Prom at Columbia Ridge Senior Living.  

4:30 – 5:30 p.m.: Formal dinner.  

5:30 – 8 p.m. Dancing. RSVP to Columbia Ridge (360) 335-1238. Dinner cost for guests is $15. 

Fri., July 26

10 a.m. – 8 p.m.: Vendor booths open — Six city blocks, downtown Camas; handmade crafts, gifts, food and more. 

10 a.m. – 8 p.m.: Food booths — On Birch between 3rd and 4th Avenue. Food from all over the world, and your classic festival favorites. 

11 a.m. – 8 p.m.: Kid’s street: Climb For Fun! Rockwall, fast-pitch, jump house, slide and more on Dallas & 4th. 

11:30 a.m.: Kid’s Parade line up and judging in front of City Hall, 4th & Franklin. 

12:15 p.m.: Kid’s Parade begins. 

5 p.m. – 11 p.m.: (Gates close at 10:30 p.m.) A Toast of Camas; Wine & Microbrew Street. On Birch Street, between 4th & 5th. Live Music. Blues rock & classic rock all evening long. $5 entry at the door, 21 and over only.

5 – 7 p.m.: The Beth Willis Band 

7- 11 p.m.: The Hot Shots 

Sat. July 27 

7:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.: Blueberry Pancake Breakfast at Camas United Methodist Church at 14th & Garfield. 

10 a.m. – 8 p.m.: Vendor booths open — Six city blocks, downtown Camas; handmade crafts, gifts, food and more. 

10 a.m. – 8 p.m.: Food booths — On Birch between 3rd and 4th Avenue. Food from all over the world, and your classic festival favorites. 

Used Book Sale at the Camas Library: Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

11 a.m. – 8 p.m.: Kid’s street: Climb For Fun! Rockwall, fast-pitch, jump house, slide and more on Dallas & 4th. 

11 a.m.: Camas Days Grand Parade – “Candyland” themed parade; 4th Avenue, Oak to Adams. 

1 p.m.: Bathtub Races at 4th & Franklin. Organized by Lutz Hardware. 

5 p.m. – 11 p.m.: (Gates close at 10:30) A Toast of Camas: Wine & Microbrew Street. On Birch Street, between 4th & 5th. Live Music. Blues rock & classic rock all evening long. $5 entry at the door, 21 and over only. 

Entertainment: 

5 – 7 p.m.: The Beth Willis Band

6 p.m. – 8 p.m.: Steak Feed at Grove Field; Field BBQ your own steak (chicken available). Dinner includes 6 oz steak, salad, baked potato, lemonade, pork & beans, and cake $15 per person (price includes introductory membership in Camas Washougal Aviation Association) Proceeds benefit CWAA scholarship fund. Bring your own steak knife. 

Sun., July 28 

8 a.m. – 7 p.m.: Annual Softball Tournament. ASA sanctioned “D” tournament at Ione & 19th. 

10 a.m.-4 p.m.: Grove Field Open House — Raffle, plane rides ($25), Airplane displays, soft drinks. 

Noon: Ducky Derby. Watch from the 3rd Ave. Bridge on the Washougal River as the Camas-Washougal Rotary Club launches all its ducks and a grand prize winner is chosen. 

11 a.m. – 4 p.m.: Picnic In Color. Held in downtown Camas on Cedar between 4th and 5th Avenue.
