A recent proposal to change the role from elected to appointed was halted after strong public opposition
After public comment and criticism from elected officials, the Clark County Council decided not to move forward with a proposal to place on the ballot a change to make the County Clerk position appointed rather than elected. Instead, councilors agreed the issue should be taken up by the soon-to-be-elected Charter Review Commission.
