Area resident Julia Dawn Seaver says ‘A generation ago, no sane person would have dreamed of celebrating the cold-blooded murder of a young family man, certainly not outside the privacy of their own home’

In the past, events that shocked the national consciousness have generally left us more united and with greater resolve than before. After 9/11, American flags flew everywhere – neighborhoods, businesses, on the side of the road – a symbol of our strength and unity.

The murder of Charlie Kirk makes clear we’re not that country anymore. A generation ago, no sane person would have dreamed of celebrating the cold-blooded murder of a young family man, certainly not outside the privacy of their own home. Now, tens of thousands (more?) are doing just that.
I’m glad the folks who spent the last decade silencing and cancelling anyone who dared disagree with them have suddenly discovered the 1st Amendment. What they’re learning now as many lose their jobs, is the reality of consequences, as they discover most people don’t trust their children, their health, finances, and safety to those who wish death on them. And in a free society and free market, they don’t have to.
Even those not directly celebrating can’t seem to stop themselves from gaslighting and lying about Charlie. The same people who whine about misinformation and disinformation can’t take 10 seconds to look up the full quotes and context of his statements on the 2nd Amendment, empathy, and DEI. They desperately engage in whataboutism and try to insist the rise in political violence stems from both sides. Poppycock.
This is a product of the left. Don’t believe it? Take a look at this video by Michigan legislator Eric Nesbitt for a small sampling. Check out this study where 55% of left-leaning respondents said assassinating President Trump would be somewhat justified, and 48% said the same for Elon Musk. Look at how each side responds to tragedy. Thousands have shown up to vigils across the country, across the world, to sing and pray. There was no looting, no burning buildings or cars, no attacks on law enforcement. The two sides are not the same. One wants to live and let live. The other wants to destroy.
“If you thought my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea,” said Kirk’s widow, Erika. The fire’s been lit. Charlie’s faith was the most important part of his life and every appearance saw him pointing the audience toward Jesus. This weekend, churches saw attendance rise. Many people are sharing that they either returned to church or went for the first time after discovering Charlie’s videos. His Turning Point organization received requests for 37,000 new chapters on campuses across the nation. His movement will indeed grow and overcome the hate on the left. And it won’t come through violence. It will come from truth, love, and the disinfecting light that will expose and root out the hate and lies; and most directly, it will come through the ballot box.
