Saturday, March 29, marks National Vietnam Veterans Day. Additionally, Washington State has designated March 30 as Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day (2013 HB1319), honoring those who served in the Vietnam War and Vietnam Era between November 1, 1955, and May 15, 1975, regardless of their service location.

As a nation, we pay tribute to the courageous men and women who served during this period and their families, who also endured great sacrifices. Many of these veterans did not receive the recognition they deserved upon returning home more than 50 years ago, and we now stand together to acknowledge their service.
This Saturday, a coalition of organizations will host the 50th Commemoration of the Vietnam War at the Vancouver Mall (1:00 pm), honoring hundreds of local veterans. This event celebrates their dedication, loyalty, and sacrifices. Vietnam and Vietnam-Era veterans in attendance will receive personal recognition, a commemorative Lapel Pin, and a Presidential Proclamation.
Our Vietnam and Vietnam-era veterans hold a place of honor in our community. This day serves as a meaningful tribute to their service and resilience. Let us take this opportunity to express our gratitude, recognition, and appreciation to those who served.
THANK YOU, VIETNAM AND VIETNAM-ERA VETERANS!
J. Ron Powers
