The free, family-friendly event will mark the beginning of local America250 celebrations leading up to the nation’s 250th anniversary
The city of Washougal invites residents to celebrate the start of America250 with a community kickoff event on Monday, June 29, at 6 p.m. in Reflection Plaza. The free, family-friendly event will mark the beginning of local America250 celebrations leading up to the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Families, children, and community members of all ages are encouraged to attend and learn more about the history, values, and people that have shaped Washougal and the nation over the past 250 years. Attendees can enjoy hands-on activities for all ages, including rock painting, coloring projects, temporary tattoos, historical exhibits, and free Kona Ice while supplies last.
Local history organizations, including the Washougal Senior Association, Immortal Indignation, and the Two Rivers Heritage Museum, will help bring the community’s story to life. Museum staff will also distribute copies of America’s founding documents and share historical information highlighting both national and local history.
“This event is about celebrating our shared history while looking ahead to the future we continue to build together,” said Rose Jewell, Community Engagement Manager for the city of Washougal. “Washougal is a close-knit and caring community where people come together, support one another, and take pride in where they live. America250 gives us an opportunity to reflect on those values, celebrate our heritage, and build excitement for the events to come.”
Downtown businesses will also join in the celebration through an America250-themed decorating contest, helping create a festive atmosphere throughout the city.
The event is made possible through partnerships with the Washougal Senior Association, Immortal Indignation, and the Two Rivers Heritage Museum. Compher Realty is the exclusive event sponsor.
The city of Washougal’s community events are made possible in part through the support of our 2026 Community Event Sponsors: Columbia Credit Union, Compher Realty, Edward Jones, Pacific NW Pet, and UPC-USA.
