Veterans Day ceremony scheduled at Fort Vancouver

The Historic Trust and Community Military Appreciation Committee are teaming up for a free Veterans Day ceremony at the 11th hour of the 11th day of November on the grounds of Fort Vancouver.

The Historic Trust and Community Military Appreciation Committee are teaming up for a free Veterans Day ceremony at the 11th hour of the 11th day of November on the grounds of Fort Vancouver.

Among the activities is free admission to the World War II exhibit: Fighting for the Right to Fight. The exhibit is located at the Artillery Barracks, 605 Hatheway Road in Vancouver. The exhibit opens at 9 a.m. Thursday.

The traditional Veterans Day ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. with words of tribute by guest speakers, musical performances by local schools, as well as military displays.

Scheduled speakers include: Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle, Assistant Chief Troy Price of the Vancouver Police Department, and retired Army 1st Sgt. Michael Robertson.

Guests are reminded to dress for the weather. There is limited seating under tents.
