Witnesses stated that the vehicle occupants fled the scene prior to the arrival of emergency personnel
The Vancouver Fire Department responded to reports of a truck that struck a fire hydrant at about 11:20 a.m. Monday (Feb. 26).
The first-arriving engine arrived to find a small vehicle on top of a fire hydrant with massive water flooding the nearby area. Crews were unable to locate the water main shutoff due to high volumes of water and debris covering the street. The city of Vancouver water department responded and was able to shut down the main with special tools after thousands of gallons had escaped.

Witnesses stated that the vehicle occupants fled the scene prior to the arrival of emergency personnel. Vancouver Police and Vancouver Public Works continued to keep westbound Burton Rd. closed between the 112th and 107th block while the hydrant and water main was repaired.
