The pedestrian was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital
VANCOUVER – On Saturday (July 21) at about 9:48 p.m., a vehicle traveling northbound on NE St. Johns Rd, passing NE 44th Street, struck a pedestrian who was crossing east to west outside the crosswalk.
The pedestrian was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital. The driver remained on scene, was cooperative, and impairment on the part of the driver was not a factor.
The Vancouver Police Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation.

This is the third pedestrian vs vehicle on a major highway in the last 2 months, the first 2 incidents being fatal.
What local demographic group would be most likely to attempt to jay-walk across a highway at night, in the dark?? We don’t really know because there is never any follow-up on these incidents to explain what really happened, but my best guess is that all three of these involved “homeless” vagrants.
How many more of these will we see this year??
