Wow… the mayor truly is out of touch with reality. But I’ll give her credit, as a politician she does know how to put a positive spin on dirty, stinking messes. And Vancouver is just that… a dirty, stinking mess.

I’m unsure what I dislike most… the narrowing of our existing streets to create backups, or the never-ending push for more of our money to give away to the homeless addicts? Or is it the back-slapping and book-licking and tax-deferring that she does to deep-pocket developers? Oh, wait, I know… it’s the initiation and support of efforts to censure a County Council member from representing her constituents, thereby creating financial suicide for Vancouver and Clark County residents.

This mayor needs to be tossed to the curb, along with several of the city clowncil, come this next election.

At the March RTC meeting, Mayor Ogle was delighted to report that she and city staff had been hard at work promoting light rail on the proposed I-5 Bridge. She closed the meeting with an enthusiastic charge to fellow RTC board members, For the Good of the Cause!
Per Wikipedia, “For the Good of the Cause is a novella by Russian writer Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, published in the Russian magazine Novy Mir in 1963. The action takes place in a provincial town like Ryazan where the author lived after his release from the Gulag and his return from exile in the 1950s. In the town, the students of the local college help to build new college premises by doing most of the work themselves. On completion, the Soviet authorities order that the building should be handed over to a research institute and the students are told that this is “for the good of the cause”.
The story is an overt criticism of the lack of democracy that prevailed at the time and the lack of integrity of political leaders.”

It reminded me of the affordable housing, businesses, and livlihoods built over many years and decades in Vancouver that may be taken, For the Good of the Cause, such as new Transit Oriented Development high rises, if the IBR I-5 Bridge replacement with light rail continues full steam ahead.

Curious how Mayor Megalomaniac-Ogle neglected to mention the lawsuit that is pending against the City from a group of Citizens opposed to her reshaping every neighborhood in her own image.

Save Our Streets, Vancouver has raised a bit over $31,000 to challenge Herhonor in Court sometime in May. Well done to every Citizen who stood up against this “complete streets” nonsense.
