Swift action saves Vancouver apartment complex from fire

Vancouver Fire Department crews moved quickly to extinguish a fire at the Oak Creek Apartments early Thursday

Crews from the Vancouver Fire Department (VFD) were able to contain an apartment fire Thursday morning at the Oak Creek Apartments, limiting damage to the 12-unit complex.

At 3:12 a.m. Thursday (May 27), VFD units responded to the report of a fire at 11412 NE 49th St., the location of the Oak Creek Apartments.  Engine 6 arrived within five minutes to find one of the 12 apartments on fire.  

The swift actions of Engine 6 and its crew kept the fire contained to the unit of origin.  A total of 20 firefighters were on scene.  Crews searched the building to make sure everyone was evacuated.  

The fire was deemed under control after 13 minutes of firefighting. One resident was evaluated but not transported.  The fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
