Ley, who represents Washington’s 18th Legislative District, said his endorsement is rooted in Quiring O’Brien’s long record of independent leadership and her commitment to ensuring government remains accountable to the people it serves
VANCOUVER – Clark County Auditor candidate Eileen Quiring O’Brien today announced the endorsement of Washington State Representative John Ley, a leading advocate for government transparency, taxpayer accountability, and public oversight.
Ley, who represents Washington’s 18th Legislative District, said his endorsement is rooted in Quiring O’Brien’s long record of independent leadership and her commitment to ensuring government remains accountable to the people it serves.
“When it comes to government, I believe one simple principle should always apply: the people deserve the truth,” said Ley. “Whether we’re talking about government spending, public policy, or major public projects, citizens have a right to expect transparency, honest answers, and leaders who are willing to challenge the status quo when necessary.”
Ley praised Quiring O’Brien for her willingness to ask difficult questions and put citizens ahead of political pressure.
“Eileen has never been afraid to ask tough questions,” Ley said. “Throughout her years in public service, she has demonstrated an independent mindset and a willingness to look beyond political pressure and focus on what is best for the people she serves.”
Quiring O’Brien welcomed the endorsement, noting Ley’s reputation as a strong advocate for government accountability and transparency.
“John has earned the respect of citizens throughout Southwest Washington because he consistently demands transparency and accountability from government,” said Quiring O’Brien. “He understands that public trust must be earned through openness, honesty, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources. I am honored to have his support.”
Ley emphasized that the County Auditor’s Office plays a critical role in maintaining public confidence in government through its oversight of elections, public records, licensing, and financial accountability.
“The County Auditor’s Office should be more than a caretaker of government functions. It should be a guardian of public confidence,” Ley said. “Whether overseeing elections, maintaining public records, or ensuring accountability in county operations, the Auditor must be committed to openness, professionalism, and public service.”
Ley concluded by noting that Clark County needs experienced leadership and independent judgment in the Auditor’s Office.
“At a time when many citizens are demanding greater oversight, transparency, and accountability from public institutions, Clark County needs an Auditor with the experience and independence to do the job right,” Ley said. “I trust Eileen Quiring O’Brien to be that leader.”
The endorsement adds another respected elected official to Quiring O’Brien’s growing coalition of support from leaders across Clark County who value accountability, transparency, and experienced leadership.
