The Ridgefield School District recently announced that a summary of the bond survey results will be presented at the next board of directors meeting. Due to a scheduling conflict, this meeting will deviate from the typical Tuesday board meeting schedule and will instead be held on Wed., June 26 at 5 p.m. in the Columbian Assembly Room at the Ridgefield Administrative and Civic Center at 510 Pioneer Street in Ridgefield.
If you are unable to attend in person, you can join the meeting via Zoom by visiting https://www.ridgefieldsd.org/page/board-of-directors and clicking on the “Join the Board Meeting via Zoom” button.
After the district’s latest attempt in April to pass a school construction bond failed to reach the required supermajority, the district created and shared a survey to collect feedback from the community. The district received more than 350 responses to the survey, and the Board of Directors extends their sincere gratitude to the community members who took the time to participate by sharing their thoughts and opinions regarding the school construction bonds.
“Your feedback is invaluable to us as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead,’’ read a statement from the Ridgefield School District this week.
“As part of ongoing efforts to understand and incorporate community perspectives, school board members have welcomed members of both the con and pro committees to share their takeaways from the recent bond campaigns,’’ read the district’s statement. “These discussions have been crucial in gathering a wide range of feedback and ideas concerning the district’s future steps.’’
Looking ahead, the board will collaborate with incoming superintendent Dr. Jenny Rodriquez in July to review all the information collected. Furthermore, the board is planning to host a public town hall meeting in the near future, with the exact date still to be determined. This event will serve as a platform to discuss the survey results and explore various ideas for moving forward. Additionally, the board is exploring the re-establishment of a capital facilities advisory committee to help guide decisions regarding the district’s infrastructure needs.
“Thank you for your continued involvement and support in shaping the future of our schools,’’ read the district’s statement. “More details on the town hall and other initiatives will be shared as they become available.’’
