VANCOUVER – People who travel along westbound State Route 14 between Southeast 164th Avenue and Interstate 205 in Vancouver should plan ahead to avoid peak travel time delays during construction to widen the highway.
To provide a safe work area for crews during construction, contractor crews will close one of the two westbound SR 14 off-ramp lanes to northbound I-205. This new traffic pattern will remain in place until work on this project is complete in 2024.
What to expect
- Crews will close the westbound SR 14 off-ramp to northbound I-205 between 10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8 and 4 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 while crews take advantage of dry weather to restripe the highway with a revised traffic pattern.
- Beginning Feb. 9, westbound SR 14 travelers wanting to go north on I-205 will need to merge sooner into a single lane to take the exit. During peak travel times, travelers should expect delays in the area.
- With the new narrower traffic revision in place, travelers are urged to slow down and pay attention through the work zone.
To keep both road users and road workers safe, travelers are asked to drive at slower speeds, have patience and obey warning signs.
